I purchased the Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette in Mauve during the Sephora VIB Sale. After hearing many mixed opinions about this brand, I decided this palette was a great way to try the products and find out for myself.
Company Information on the Palette
Excerpt from Sephora:
What it is:
A range of compact eyeshadow palettes, expertly curated by Huda herself, offering beauty lovers a complete day-to-night eye color wardrobe. What it does:
Each Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is packed with a selection of nine highly pigmented mattes and striking shimmers, all with a smooth and blendable texture. Available in four color themes—Warm Brown, Mauve, Smokey, and Electric Obsessions—the palettes are super compact and lightweight, making them a must-have for your handbag. The large mirror, conveniently-sized palette, and versatile shade collection allow you to create both classic and playful looks that are easy to apply on-the-go.– Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions—Six pigmented mattes and three gorgeous shimmers in dusty rose and plummy hues create a soft, natural finish for a smoky, sultry effect.
Price
This palette includes 9 eyeshadows that weight 1.1 grams each. The Huda Beauty full palette includes 18 shadows, 1.4 grams each. (This palette weighs 25.2 grams divided by 18 shadows it’s about 1.4 grams each). In terms of price, this palette is $27 for 9 shadows, pricing each shadow at $3. The full-size palette includes 18 eyeshadows for $65 making each shadow about $3.61. Which makes sense because the shadows are slightly larger in the full palettes.
First Impression
When I first received the palette, I was shocked by how small it was. I also noticed this palette was made in China. While I was checking the ingredients, the first one in the list is talc. In contrast, the brand’s full-size palettes are talc free. So, the formulation of these palettes is totally different from the full-size palettes.
Review
Sadly, my palette arrived broken. I will be returning it to Sephora. I’m not interested in a new one because overall I was just not happy with it. I feel the shade that broke is just very easily breakable. I like to travel with my makeup (I do my makeup at work) so it would not be practical for me to travel with this palette.
Note: 3 other palettes came with this one, and none arrived broken.
The matte shadows feel very dry and chalky. The shimmer shades felt and swatched better. The pigmentation is not very good, I had to dip my brush multiple times to see any payoff, but it is buildable. After many dippings and swatching, the swatches did intensify.

Have you tried the Huda Beauty palettes? Which ones? What do you think?
Write to you soon,
I actually just wrote a post thats going up tomorrow on a similar topic. Just why I don’t buy from Huda in general. I thought it was funny to then stumble across this just as I scheduled it. I only have one Huda palette, and I didn’t think it was worth what I paid for it.

Oh no, it’s terrible that you’ve got it broken! But at least you had the chance to return it, so that’s good 🙂
